• Apple iPhone 4G Hoax?

Was the Leaked iPhone 4G a hoax orchestrated by Apple?

If you were entrusted by Steve Jobs to carry around the hottest piece of mobile technology from Apple would you just nonchalantly take it out at the bar and leaving it lying around? Can you imagine the type of torture this poor soul will have to endure from Steve Jobs and his Apple minions? Will they water board him? Maybe. But maybe they are celebrating his successful “leak” of the iPhone 4G. The next big release after the iPad 3G was the new iPhone (scheduled for June 2010) wouldn’t this be the perfect way to get a TON of free publicity for the newest iToy hitting the market in about two months?

    The Shock Factor:
This story just seems a little too convenient for me. Some guy walks into a bar in San Jose, CA and stumbles upon the “golden goose”, then he proceeds to hand it over to the guys at Gizmodo so they can promote the hell out of it and show the entire world what the iPhone 4G MIGHT look like. For all we know, this is a fake and Apple sent it out to throw everyone off the scent. Meanwhile back at the Apple labs, Steve Jobs is laughing at all of the hullabaloo he caused. The blogosphere has been set a blaze by this find and it has been widely reported that Apple wants their lost child back, but come on, I’m not buying it. Steve Jobs might have the guys at Gizmodo bumped off before admitting that he “lost” a prototype of the new iPhone. Everyone was begging for a peek at the future and Apple seems to have tipped their hand. It can be said that this may be the best viral advertising campaign ever orchestrated, EVER. I’m a little leery about thinking that this is a legitimate picture of the newest iPhone, I really think that this is a stunt to create a buzz all over the internet and the newest iPhone that is scheduled for release in June will be completely different and look nothing like this monstrosity.

    The Phone:
Now let’s talk about what the new phone looks like. First off, what’s with the squared off sides? This could be mistaken for a Motorola Q. What happened to the sleek lines and curvy edges. FYI Steve, the square design went out with the first generation Nano. Seriously Apple, square edges?! In my opinion, you went back in time with this design if it is actually the newest iPhone. (like I said above, I don’t think it is.) There is a front facing camera that will enable iChat capability which was long over due and has already been done by HTC. Gizmodo reports a new ceramic/glass backing so I think that could be really cool. Apple has had a patent since 2006 for a durable ceramic type material, so it could be more durable than the current backing on the 3G s.

I hope this is a hoax because I’m not a big fan of spoilers. Good things come to those who wait and patience is a virtue. I think that the suspense of “What will they do next” is what makes Apple great and to get an early peek at the newest gadget just ruins the surprise for me. I would rather wait and see a product “unveiled” then to get a couple of grainy pics on a website.

  • Meet the New iPhone!

    This is Apple’s newest iPhone

    iPhone 4G in a 3G s disguise

Comparison between the prototype on the left and the iPhone 3Gs on the right

Found: Official new Apple iPhone in a Redwood City, CA bar

Daring Fireball writer, John Gruber, claimed on Sunday that, yes the iPhone that was found is an offical test iPhone from Apple. The tester was disguised like an iPhone 3G s in a clever black case. Upon further review, the phone was discovered to be a new Apple iPhone that is not scheduled to release until June 2010.

Apple lost the device but they want it back so they remotely wiped the entire phone so that anything within the phone would be unviewable. The real proof came when the guys at Gizmodo tried to sync the iPhone with iTunes. The iTunes recognized the device as an iPhone but was unable to synch due ot the firmware that was exclusive to the new iPhone. Apple contacted John Gruber and told him they had lost a prototype iPhone and they wanted it back.

Some of the new features in the iPhone are:
    A front facing camera–FINALLY!
A larger display with a higher resolution screen than the 3G s
Flat design, compared to the curved back of the iPhone 3G s
    Improved camera and flash

  • iPhone 4G Release Date?

    iPhone 4G ahem…I mean iPhone HD…I mean…

The rumor mill is up and churning again. Daring Fireball has let it slip that the possible release of the newest iPhone will be June 22. AT&T has already started blocking employee vacations for June to prepare for the “launch”. The latest and greatest will have some impressive upgrades and run the highly touted iPhone OS 4 with…multi-tasking.

Some of the other features on the newest iPhone are rumored but consist of a front facing camera, an Apple Chip Set, 960×640 display and of course, 3rd party multi-tasking.

Front Facing camera: iChat Video capability, although the HTC EVO already does this. Apple is a little late to the party with this one.

Apple Chip Set: The Apple A-4 family on a chip, could be the the ARM Cortex A9 multicore CPU.

960×640 Display: Larger display that would be even larger than the Motorola Droid

Multi-tasking: There we go! Thanks Steve, that wasn’t so difficult now was it? So this new iPhone will have 3rd party multi-tasking so we will no longer have to quit apps to check our mail.

This is the fourth-generation of iPhone but the insiders are not calling it the iPhone 4G…could possibly be the iPhone HD. Only Steve Jobs knows and he’s not telling anyone.

  • Apple to Delay the International Release of the iPad

According to a statement released by Apple today the International iPad release date will be delayed due to massive U.S. sales

The international release date of the long-awaited iPad will be pushed back a month according to media advisory sent out by Apple this morning. Japan, the United Kingdom and seven other The iPad was originally scheduled to go on sale April 24 in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Apple says the release date is postponed due to the strong demand for the product within the United States.

“Faced with this surprisingly strong U.S. demand, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the international launch of iPad by one month, until the end of May,”

Also, according to the statement released by Apple, more than 500,000 iPads have been delivered since the April 3 release date.

Preorders for the iPad will begin on May 10. So all of you that pre-ordered your 3Gs, just think of the poor people in other countries across the world who will kept in suspense for their iPads, as well.

  • Dear Steve, How About a Release Date for iPad 3G?

The iPad is set to ship on April 14, 2010

….just kidding but seriously when will Apple set a release date? The very ambigious “late April” enigma has led to a very audible grumbling from the dedicated and impatient loyal MACHEADS. Some future iPadders have even considered folding for the available iPad wi-fi just to experience the iPad for themselves. How they long to feel the smooth glass and soak in the sweet glow of iPad!! Over and over they keep repeating to themselves, “Patience is a virtue and good things come to those who wait”. Basically, Apple has 2 weeks max to get these iPads into the hands of a nation of geeks and if Steve Jobs doesn’t deliever on his promise of “late April” or if the eagerly awaiting nerds don’t get their iPads soon there will be some severely unhappy campers out there.

  • Saving an iPod Touch with common household items

Some home remedies for various iPod accidents.

    Wet iPod
If you decide you want to go swimming with your iPod Touch or you run it through the washing machine, try drying the device in a bag of rice. The rice is a natural dessiccant will pull the moisture out of the iPod and could possibly save its life.

This will work on any electronic device and if you are able to take the battery out of the device dry it seperately. If you haven’t already powered off the device do so and place it in a bowl or bag of rice and completely cover it in the rice for 24 hours. Do not try to charge the device. After a day or so the rice should have pulled all of the moisture out of the device. Power it on to see if it works again.

  • iPod Repair: DIY Rant

I have come across so many DIY iPod repair videos mostly on YouTube where a kid has found a way to repair his digitizer or replace his LCD screen and I think it’s really cool that we have the capability to find out how to do repairs ourselves. There are even DIY Kits being sold to repair your device yourself. Watching videos on YouTube or Expertvillage has allowed me to repair my own devices and even do things around my house or on my car. Before video sharing sites, we had to rely on manuals and other methods of gaining knowledge. Sometimes these were difficult to understand but when you are able to watch someone complete the task it really makes a difference. To anyone who has never done a repair on something they own, it really provides you with a sense of accomplishment.

I grew up with a dad who was big into DIY. I helped him with so many projects around the house (mostly just holding the flashlight) that I really saw the reward that you get when you finish the project. Sure you can pay someone to complete a project and sometimes that is neccessary because you may lack the skill, time, equipment, etc. but when you just do a little research and put in a little work, the reward is that much greater. That brings me to iPod repair. If you don’t really know what you are doing, send your device to someone who does. This is something that I would have a professional do if I didn’t know how to do it myself.
