• iPad Reaches 1 Million Sales and Counting

Since the April 3 release date, the iPad has reached the 1 million mark in about a month (28 days).  The app store has reached 12 million downloads and 1.5 million ebook downloads. All of these numbers are very impressive simply because the prior  benchmark was the 2007 iPhone release.  The iPhone reached the 1 million mark in 74 days.  Apple is reporting that 300,000 of those iPads were the iPad 3G that was released on April 30.

The 4th generation iPhone release is likely going to be in June and with all of the publicity generated by the Gizmodo leak fiasco, Apple could potentially see a large number of phones moving on the launch day. With huge numbers initially, the iPad could reach crazy sales numbers worldwide. It will be interesting to see what the global iPad sales will be and what number Apple will throw out at the end of the quarter.

  • 10 Hottest iPad Apps

    10 Hot iPad Apps

This is a list of the 10 hottest apps. With the iPad 3G arrively on Friday, I thought I would take a look at what people are putting on their iPads. This list is in no particular order.

Netflix-The player is free and you can stream right to your iPad with a Netflix account! Can you say NEVER bored??

Marvel comics-iPad is the perfect size for reading comics. You can also zoom in on panels with a panel to panel view or you can check out the whole page at once and read it like you would regularly.

MLB For $15 you can stream any game just like the iPhone app, totally worth 15 bucks.

Scrabble Word games make you smart…

Newspapers New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today…makes you smart and keeps you up to date on the World…

iBooks Kindle what?? The iBooks app is one of the coolest features of the iPad and the huge glossy screen helps.

NBA Gametime Courtside Streaming basketball games…yep…

ESPN ScoreCenter Sports scores at your fingertips…pretty sweet.

Shazam Not as good as SoundHound but it’s free…Song recognition but doesn’t recognize humming or singing like SoundHound.

Uno Who doesn’t like a good game of UNO! And it can be turned into a drinking game…

These are the tip of the iceberg for this wonderful device and I don’t doubt that this is just the tip of the iceberg for the app capability, too. I can’t even imagine what App developers have in their bag of tricks. Think about how much will change when the iPad is as ubiquitous as the iPod…

  • iPad 3G Official Release Date/ Crazy week wrap-up

    Happy Friday to all!
After the torturous wait, Apple has declared the last day of April to be the release date for the 3G. All of those ambigious “late April” messages were right. I would consider “late April” to be the last day of April so it’s not like Apple was misleading anyone. They just never came right out and said it, instead they said, you will get it, when you get it…late April, ergo April 30th.
After a whirlwind week that gave us a glimpse into what goes on within the Cuppertino Fortress walls and a couple of photos of an Apple iPhone 4th Gen prototype, all of us can take a breath and wait until June to see if the gadget that Gizmodo got their hands on is close to what the new iPhone design will look like. Unless you were living under a rock, you probably met Gray Powell, the infamous owner of the aforementioned iPhone 4G. This poor soul left his iPhone at the bar and the rest is history. After a strongly worded letter from Apple legal, the gang over at Gizmodo wisely returned the device to Apple but not before the scoop of the month and a ton of pub.

  • Apple to Delay the International Release of the iPad

According to a statement released by Apple today the International iPad release date will be delayed due to massive U.S. sales

The international release date of the long-awaited iPad will be pushed back a month according to media advisory sent out by Apple this morning. Japan, the United Kingdom and seven other The iPad was originally scheduled to go on sale April 24 in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Apple says the release date is postponed due to the strong demand for the product within the United States.

“Faced with this surprisingly strong U.S. demand, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the international launch of iPad by one month, until the end of May,”

Also, according to the statement released by Apple, more than 500,000 iPads have been delivered since the April 3 release date.

Preorders for the iPad will begin on May 10. So all of you that pre-ordered your 3Gs, just think of the poor people in other countries across the world who will kept in suspense for their iPads, as well.

  • Dear Steve, How About a Release Date for iPad 3G?

The iPad is set to ship on April 14, 2010

….just kidding but seriously when will Apple set a release date? The very ambigious “late April” enigma has led to a very audible grumbling from the dedicated and impatient loyal MACHEADS. Some future iPadders have even considered folding for the available iPad wi-fi just to experience the iPad for themselves. How they long to feel the smooth glass and soak in the sweet glow of iPad!! Over and over they keep repeating to themselves, “Patience is a virtue and good things come to those who wait”. Basically, Apple has 2 weeks max to get these iPads into the hands of a nation of geeks and if Steve Jobs doesn’t deliever on his promise of “late April” or if the eagerly awaiting nerds don’t get their iPads soon there will be some severely unhappy campers out there.

  • iPad Car Installation

These guys over at Soundman are pretty hillarious. This instal is pretty sweet and I am incredibly jealous! I want this in my car so bad. You have everything you need at your fingertips. My favorite part is when he goes to Pandora. I’ll have to check back in with them to see how everything works when he gets the iPad incorporated into his sound system.

“There’s a scratch on my dash so we’re not going to show it…” haha

With the first iPad release on Saturday, April 3, 2010, there are already some palpable underlyings of an Apple backlash. Is the Steve Jobs’ “wunderkind” going to have enough juice to gain a share of the laptop/web book market?

Looking into my magic eight ball….All signs point to ‘Yes’.

Apple sold 300,000 iPads, 250,000 iBooks and 1,000,000 apps on the iPad Launch Day, so all in all I would say that Apple’s new toy had a fairly successful debut.
When asked about the success of the iPad Launch Jobs said, “It feels great to have the iPad launched into the world—it’s going to be a game changer. iPad users, on average, downloaded more than three apps and close to one book within hours of unpacking their new iPad.”

The iPad 3G + WiFi will be available in late April and will retail for $629 for 16GB, $729 for 32GB and $829 for 64GB. The 3G + WiFi model has a good chance of surpassing the large numbers set by the iPad WiFi this weekend.

  • The Launch of the iPad

    iPad Launch

With the U.S. release date just around the corner, I thought I would take some time to talk about the, soon to be ubiquitous, iPad. I read the four page spread that Time Magazine gave the iPad and thought the interview with Steve Jobs was very well done by Stephen Fry. I have also gone back to check out the iPad Keynote Speech from January (broken up in several parts). I think this is really a technology for people to get excited about. The possibilites on this device are incredible; from an educational standpoint to a gaming stand point, there are so many useful applications to the iPad.

With that being said, would I purchase the first generation of iPad…not likely. But I will say, give this product nine months and I think we will see a substantial A.) price decrease and B.) increase in user interface and application capability. Is it possible that the general public will not take to the iPad immediately? Maybe…but I can remember a time when not everyone was walking around with an iPod in their pocket.

Either way, I see this as a win-win-win scenario. Win-Apple get’s a new product release that is generating a great deal of buzz with the potential to do unlimited commerce from the device. Win-Apple fanatics get a new toy to play with and the satisfaction of telling people that they, do in fact, own an iPad. Win-The less fanatical Apple fans will get an even better version of this device in nine months to a year.

In the end, I really do this that the capability of the iPad will turn the people who think, “What’s the big deal? It looks like a big iPhone…” into loyal users because the technology really is that good.

  • How Does it Work? iPhone, iPod Digitizer Technology

    iPod Technology: Accelerometer

Have you wondered how your iPod knows when you turn it on it’s side or how it can be used to play games with realistic movements?

Using a small piece of technology know as an accelerometer, the iPod touch can recognize the orientation at which it is being held at. The accelerometer uses three elements; An electrical current, silicon mass, silicon springs. The silicon springs measure the position of the silicon mass and cause a fluctuation in the electrical current. The springs do this by gauging where the electrical current is moving through the silicon mass. When the silicon moves, the current changes and the LCD screen receives a different signal. This variation then sends the electrical signal to the iPod telling it to adjust the game or whatever is on the screen. By simply flipping the device from a portrait to a landscape view, you can immediately see an entire web page, control a game using only your movements or view a photo in the proper aspect ratio.
