Which one should you use? Last June Steve Jobs gave a very detailed view of Apple’s iCloud –a sharing service for iPhone and iPad. While iCloud is gaining momentum when it comes to popularity, Microsoft is also working very hard in revamping its own version of the app i.e. SkyDrive. Microsoft is also placing the finishing touches for the upcoming update for Mango. Techies the world over are expecting that Mango, MyPhone and Live Mesh will become more popular soon since these are all part of the cloud storage ecosystem for Microsoft.

The question is, which service is better? This of course depends on which ecosystem you are more comfortable with or which one you have invested in but if you haven’t made your choice yet, here are a few things you should take into consideration.

When it comes to music, there is not much to compare between the two cloud drives but iCloud surely makes it possible for you to integrate your iTunes purchases with ease. You can store music in your SkyDrive too but it is unclear whether you can play them while on SkyDrive. This gives a minus point to the said ecosystem but you should still take a look at it whether it will do playbacks.

For backups, SkyDrive is good but you would have to take a look at the settings so as not to share everything in your drive. iCloud on the other hand makes it easy for you to back up files from all your Apple stuff.

When it comes to documents, SkyDrive has been updating its system to make way for documents. They said a few months ago that it will be available by June of 2011 but it hasn’t been launched officially. For Apple, there is OneNote and you can make use of this for you err..notes.
